Applications are subject to a rigorous review. Company are ranked based on a scoring system devised to capture the true pioneers within the sector, which includes the following three scoring elements:
- business size,
- digital footprint and
- sustainable practices
The 2020 edition of the FoodTech 500 attracted some of the most innovative AgriFoodTech players globally including Plenty (USA), which has raised over $500 million in venture funds – Too Good To Go (UK), which engaged 6 million people in their food waste efforts and NotCo (Chile), which has surpassed a $1.5B valuation with its last round. The list obviously also contains a long list of innovative agrifoodtech startups, including StartLife Accelerate alumni Orbisk (SLA F18), Evja (SLA F19) and Sphera Encapsulation (SLA F20) to name but a few.
